Related Post Widget Using Google Custom Search for Blogger

You have seen many related post widgets for blogger. But here is one which is designed using Google Custom Search. See the demo in the footer section of this post.

How to install :

1. Login to Blogger Dashboard
2. Go to Design >> Edit HTML >> Check ‘Expand Widget Template‘
3. Search for <data:post.body/>
4. Paste the follwoing code below <data:post.body/> tag

5. Create your own Google Custom Search Engine and you will get Custom Search element code.
6. Replace 'Google Custom Search ID' in above code with Search ID (It will be like '018365665906983522985:XXXXXXXXXXX') that you got in 5th step.
7. Save template. You are done!

How to Create Four Column Footer Section in Blogger/blogspot

F rom this tutorial you will be able to add four column to your blogger footer in easy steps. You can see the live demo at the bottom of this blog, i have four columns in the footer section. By adding extra columns at the footer, you will save some space in sidebar and also upload time of your blog.

I searched for ‘creating four column footer for blogger’ in internet, but found nothing. So i come across some tutorials on ‘creating 3 column footer’ and modified them to ‘four column footer’.

Steps You Need to Add 4 Column Section at the Bottom of the Blogger
Step 1. Login to your Blogger Dashboard
Step 2. Go to Layout >> Edit HTML , do not check the “expand widget templates” box. This will simplifies the process
Step 3. Back up your existing blogger template (Click on ‘Download Full Template’ to Back up)
Step 4. Now search these line of codes or similar ( footer-wrap, footer, footer-end etc… )

Simple Steps to Add a Three Column Footer to Blogger Theme

With a Three Column Footer you can easily display many items in your Blog. Many of the new themes for Blogger have got a three column footer. If your Themes doesn’t have a three column footer then you need not worry. I’ll tell you in some simple steps on how to add a Three Column Footer to your Blogger Theme.

• First thing I would strong say is to backup your current theme. In case if you have got any errors then you can restore your earlier theme. To take a backup of your current theme go to Layout > Edit HTML from your Blogger Dashboard. Now click the “Download Full Template” which is a link present in the “Backup / Restore Template” option. Save your template and start modifying your Theme.

• Now remove all the Widgets present in the Footer section. You can also move the Widgets from Footer to another section also. I personally prefer moving the footer widgets to sidebar.

• Now search your template and find the following code (There may be something in the ID part like “footer” or “footer-block” or something similar to that.

CSS Code for Blogger Tag Cloud (Labels)

Love all the ready to use widget created by blogger. However the catch is, those widget are given as is, come up with next to none customization. Hence again I Googled around the net. Some results are hard to understand and some, some are very technical and some, manipulating the code with the completely different way. In the end, I managed to get the default CSS for the tag (or tag cloud, or named by blogger as labels).

Here is your blogger label default CSS:

Place the CSS code above into any part of your CSS, between <head> and </head>. Since Labels are always placed on sidebar, I recommend you to place the code just below the sidebar CSS. Label size ranging from the smallest 1 to the biggest 5.You can change the opacity and font size percentage to any value as you wish. The default text align is justify, you can either change it to the "left" or to the "right" or "center".

As you can see, I changed the font-size percentage, also included an extra hover (text mouseover) effect CSS - white text with blue text background and no text underline. Interesting right? Go and try it by yourself.
